In the vast desert of Qatar, rows of modern, intelligent greenhouses stand like steel guardians, gleaming with technological brilliance under the scorching sun. This is the culmination of years of in-depth cooperation between Chongqing Qingcheng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Qingcheng Agriculture") and its Qatari clients, a testament to trust and strength—the Qatari clients entrusted Qingcheng Agriculture with the entire process of their greenhouse projects, from design to installation, without reservation. Qingcheng Agriculture lived up to their trust, building "green monuments" in the desert with its superior technology and professional services.
The cooperation between Qingcheng Agriculture and its Qatari clients began several years ago. At that time, Qatar was constrained by both extreme climate and scarce arable land resources, relying on imports for 99% of its leafy vegetables, which were not only expensive but also difficult to guarantee in terms of freshness. Qingcheng Agriculture, carrying its independently developed containerized plant factory technology, crossed oceans to embark on a challenging exploration of "maximizing yield from the land" in the desert. Leveraging advanced technologies such as hydroponics and intelligent temperature control, the team successfully cultivated over 30 varieties of vegetables, including bok choy and lettuce, within containers. This not only filled a gap in Qatar's local leafy vegetable supply but also, with its highly efficient "from harvest to table in just 2 hours" delivery, became the designated supplier for the players' restaurant during the Qatar World Cup, earning high recognition and trust from the client.

This third-phase project is a "desert intelligent greenhouse solution" tailored by Qingcheng Agriculture for its Qatari client. Unlike previous projects, this Qatari client entrusted Qingcheng Agriculture with the entire project chain, from initial planning and design to construction and installation. Faced with this weighty trust, Qingcheng Agriculture assembled a dedicated team of senior designers, engineers, and technical experts, dedicating themselves to the work with a meticulous approach.
During the design phase, the team conducted in-depth analysis of Qatar's tropical desert climate, combining client needs with market trends to carefully plan the greenhouse layout, select equipment, and optimize the system. From the wind and sand resistance design of the double-layer membrane structure to the precise temperature control solution of the giant fan system; from the innovative space utilization of the six-layer vertical planting racks to the crop adaptation research of dynamic nutrient solution mixing technology, every detail reflects the team's wisdom and hard work.
In the construction and installation phase, Qingcheng Agriculture maintained strict quality control. The technical team arrived on-site early, working closely with local workers to ensure that every welded steel piece and every installed glass panel met standards. Simultaneously, the team implemented advanced project management tools to monitor progress in real time and coordinate resources, ensuring the project progressed according to plan. Currently, all core materials have been delivered, and construction and installation are proceeding smoothly. Modern, intelligent greenhouses are about to rise from the desert.
The greenhouse project that Qingcheng Agriculture has built for its Qatari clients is not only a full-chain service of design and installation, but also a deep empowerment of agricultural technology. The project integrates several core technologies independently developed by Qingcheng Agriculture: real-time monitoring of parameters such as temperature, humidity, and light within the greenhouse via sensors, and automatic adjustment of equipment such as fans and shading curtains to create the optimal environment for crop growth; precise supply of nutrient solution according to the crop's growth stage, achieving an irrigation water recycling rate of over 95%, saving 60% of water compared to traditional methods; and integrated photovoltaic power generation and waste heat recovery devices, which, while providing electricity to the greenhouse, use excess heat to heat the nutrient solution, reducing energy consumption by 30% and achieving green and low-carbon production.
“These technologies are tailor-made for Qatar’s desert environment,” explained Gao Yuntao, Technical Director of Qingcheng Agriculture. “For example, we optimized the greenhouse’s shading and ventilation design to address the local high temperatures and strong sunlight; and we developed a highly efficient integrated water and fertilizer system to address the poor water retention of sandy soils. These innovations not only improve crop yield and quality but also provide a replicable ‘Chinese solution’ for desert agriculture globally.”
Qingcheng Agriculture’s deep cooperation with its Qatari clients has not only promoted local agricultural development but also set a model for green cooperation between China and Qatar under the Belt and Road Initiative. As of January 2026, Qingcheng Agriculture has undertaken more than 20 smart agriculture projects globally, covering Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, cumulatively reducing carbon emissions by over 100,000 tons. The successful implementation of this Qatar project has been hailed by the Qatari Ministry of Agriculture as a “benchmark for China-Qatar green cooperation,” and its water-saving and energy-saving technologies will be incorporated into Qatar’s national agricultural development plan, contributing to the development of desert agriculture globally.
