Controlling Air Humidity in Greenhouse

2026 03/05

Excessive humidity inside Greenhouse not only directly affects the photosynthesis and mineral nutrient absorption of vegetables, but also promotes the germination and infection of pathogen spores.
Modern Greenhouse Technology for Enhanced Productivity
Therefore, ventilation is essential to promote the exchange of high-humidity air inside the greenhouse with low-humidity air outside, effectively reducing the relative humidity. Heating with in-situ heaters can also lower relative humidity.
Using drip irrigation combined with mulching can significantly reduce air humidity by minimizing soil moisture evaporation.
High temperature and high humidity or low temperature and high humidity inside Greenhouse can easily lead to the outbreak and spread of pests and diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt reasonable irrigation methods to regulate humidity and ensure stable and high yields of vegetables.
After each irrigation, ventilation should be increased according to the situation, ensuring that the temperature is not affected, to promptly remove moisture from the greenhouse and reduce humidity inside.
Especially on sunny days, when the temperature inside the Commercial Greenhouse is high, if ventilation is not maintained after irrigation, not only will humidity increase, but plants will also be prone to excessive vegetative growth.
The ventilation level should be controlled according to the temperature. Ventilate when the temperature is above 30℃ and close the ventilation when the temperature is below 20℃. The temperature should be maintained between 28-30℃.
