Differences Between Internal and External Shading Systems in Greenhouse

2026 03/11

Internal and external shading systems in Greenhouse share some similarities and differences in their functions.

Similarities:
1. Shading and Cooling: Both internal and external shading systems primarily function to block sunlight and prevent crops from being scorched by strong light. By blocking a large amount of light from entering, they effectively reduce heat accumulation inside the greenhouse, thus achieving a cooling effect.
2. Crop Protection: Both internal and external shading systems protect crops from sunburn, thus promoting crop growth and yield.
Differences:
1. Location and Design: Internal and external shading systems differ in their location and design within the greenhouse. External shading systems are located outside the greenhouse and typically consist of supports and curtains, used to block sunlight. Internal shading systems are located inside the greenhouse and typically consist of hangers and curtains, used to block sunlight from entering the greenhouse through windows.
2. Ventilation: External shading systems generally offer better ventilation than internal shading systems.
3. Wind Resistance: External shading systems generally offer better wind resistance than internal shading systems. The curtains of external shading systems can be opened for ventilation. Internal shading systems, on the other hand, have relatively poorer ventilation because they are located inside the greenhouse and block some airflow.
4. Installation Method: External shading systems are typically easier to install than internal shading systems. Installation is usually done outside the greenhouse, eliminating the need to enter, which simplifies construction and maintenance. Internal shading systems, however, require installation inside the greenhouse, necessitating the use of scaffolding and other equipment, making installation more complex.
